Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Seguin, TX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Industrial Power Systems Division.

You will participate in the maintenance and improvement of assembly processes for generators ranging from 35kW to 850kW, covering planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, releasing, and constraint management. You will lead projects, apply lean and Six Sigma methods, work with suppliers, review tool designs, analyze changes, and support NPI to ensure manufacturability and

Qualifications

• Knowledge of decision-making processes and tools; ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge: principles, implementation, and applying lean into production.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
• Ability to recognize, anticipate and resolve organizational or process problems using problem solving approaches.

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, and manage manufacturing and assembly projects; troubleshoot day-to-day process problems and evaluate changes for effectiveness.
• Design processes aligning with takt time to achieve quality and throughput targets.
• Lead continuous improvement activities impacting assembly, ISO requirements and root-cause analysis.
• Address ergonomic/safety and efficiency improvements using project methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt).
• Coordinate tool design reviews, manufacturing processes, cost estimates, layouts, and releasing with stakeholders.
• Analyze engineering change notices and implement part or process changes.
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to manage capital projects for cost-effective systems.
• Assess and recommend equipment needs and modifications based on usage requirements.
• Support NPI to ensure manufacturability and on-time releases.
• Adhere to quality, cost reduction, safety and ergonomic standards in duties.
