Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Electric Motor to provide technical process support for safety, quality, cost, and velocity in the electric drivetrain assembly.

The role interfaces with multiple teams and serves as a SME for manufacturing processes; requires a Bachelor's in engineering or 2+ years in motor manufacturing. Onsite five days a week with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technology degree is desired; in lieu of a degree, 2+ years in an electrical motor manufacturing support role.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and lean manufacturing principles; ability to design and implement processes that safely realize objectives.
• Experience with reading engineering prints and BOM; ability to interface with engineering, operations, safety, and supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Address daily process issues, implement innovative solutions, and communicate improvements.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions for Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost opportunities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain shop floor processes including routings, BOM/MBOM, ergonomic requirements, tooling, PFMEA, control plans, and flow diagrams.
• Assess and recommend systems, procedures, training, and equipment based on input from shop floor users and engineering.
• Manage expense and capital requirements related to assembly areas, NPI, and equipment replacement.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical guidance to the value stream for electric motor manufacturing processes.
