Job summary

Exponent seeks a Managing Engineer with expertise in ADAS and/or autonomous vehicles for our Vehicle Engineering Practice in Phoenix, AZ; with offices in Natick, MA or Menlo Park, CA. You will lead consulting projects analyzing and testing ADAS/AV systems, performance, emissions, NVH, and safety assessments, while building client relationships and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of work experience in ADAS, AVs, and vehicle system design, development, testing, deployment.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship required.
• Ability to leverage industry connections to generate new business and projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong leadership and mentoring experience.
• Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics clearly.
• Willing to travel and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Managing projects from initiation to completion and communicating updates to team members, clients, and staff.
• Developing and growing the Vehicle Engineering Practice by generating new business and projects.
• Managing, mentoring, and providing project work for junior consulting staff.
• Handling project and cost management on casework.
• Setting up and executing various test programs, including full-scale vehicle tests and component evaluations.
• Continuing to develop specialized automotive expertise in design, performance, and testing.
