Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to lead the importation of goods by ocean and supervise a team of coordinators. The role demands strong regulatory knowledge, customer relationship management, and effective cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in freight forwarding or logistics, fluency in English, and proven leadership to optimize processes, control costs, and ensure timely delivery across multiple shipments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls.
• Fluency in English; strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the importation of goods by ocean, including carrier selection, booking, and transportation.
• Collaborate with logistics, finance, and operations departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and third-party service providers.
• Address and resolve customer inquiries promptly.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and other relevant regulations.
• Stay updated on ocean freight regulations and import controls.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
• Identify and execute process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Monitor and report on KPIs including cargo delivery times, costs, and service quality.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Supervise a team of ocean import coordinators and support staff

• Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate a team
• In-depth knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and ocean freight principles
• Fluency in English is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Experience with logistics and ocean cargo management systems
• Minimal domestic and international travel may be required
• Ability to work extensive or occasionally staggered hours for multi-shift access
