Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a logistics coordinator to manage ocean import/export operations, coordinate with carriers, and ensure compliant, timely delivery of shipments.

You will prepare required documentation, track shipments, and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams to streamline operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in freight forwarding or logistics is preferred.
• Ocean import/export experience highly desirable.
• Ability to calculate costs and rates.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Fluent English required; additional languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage ocean imports, including customs clearance and delivery to final destination.
• Manage ocean exports, including carrier booking and movement through transportation channels.
• Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery.
• Prepare and submit customs-clearing documents such as invoices, packing lists and bills of lading.
• Track shipments and provide regular customer status updates.
• Maintain customer relationships and address concerns.
• Collaborate with logistics, finance, operations, and other internal teams.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.

Job description

• Manage the importation of goods by ocean, including customs clearance and delivery to the final destination
• Manage the exportation of goods by ocean, including carrier booking and movement through various transportation channels
• Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery
• Prepare, process, and submit required customs-clearance documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
• Track and monitor shipments and provide regular customer status updates
• Manage customer relationships and address concerns or issues
• Collaborate with logistics, finance, operations, and other internal departments
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and other applicable requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred
• Experience in ocean import and export is highly desirable
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and rates
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of ocean freight logistics and customs regulations
• Understanding of trade laws and regulations
• Fluency in English is required
• Knowledge of additional languages is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with logistics software and systems is preferred
