GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a Major Gifts Director to secure and grow major and planned giving revenue by developing and managing high-value donor relationships, leading strategic fundraising initiatives, overseeing planned giving operations, and utilizing data-driven fundraising strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles' philanthropic goals.


SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

THIS IS A HYBRID WORKING POSITION



  • Develop and implement an annual major gifts strategy in partnership with the Senior Director of Individual Giving, establishing fundraising goals, revenue projections, timelines, performance metrics, and reporting processes. Leverage donor data, pipeline analytics, and portfolio performance to inform strategy, forecast revenue, identify opportunities, and drive achievement of annual fundraising objectives.

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of 150+ current and prospective major gift donors, utilizing moves management strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. Build a strong donor pipeline through intentional relationship development, regular donor meetings, calls, and site visits, while maintaining accurate records and advancing donors toward increased philanthropic investment to achieve annual revenue goals.

  • Lead the development and execution of the annual planned giving strategy in collaboration with planned giving staff, including donor pipeline development, cultivation, stewardship, targeted marketing and communications, and revenue growth initiatives. Supervise and coach planned giving staff to achieve program objectives, performance metrics, and revenue targets.

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Individual Giving and Events team to design and execute cultivation, stewardship, and recognition opportunities that strengthen donor relationships and advance donors through the major and planned giving pipelines. Leverage donor engagement data to strategically connect current and prospective donors with site visits, signature events, and mission-focused experiences that support fundraising outcomes.


SUMMARY OF JOB QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, background check, and a driving record check

  • Reliable internet connection

  • At least 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, including demonstrated success securing major gifts from individual donors.

  • Experience managing a portfolio of approximately 150 or more current and prospective major gift donors.

  • Proven ability to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-value donors using moves management strategies.

  • Demonstrated success developing and executing annual major gifts strategies, fundraising goals, revenue projections, and performance metrics.

  • Experience with planned giving programs, including donor cultivation, stewardship, marketing, pipeline development, and revenue growth.

  • Supervisory experience with the ability to coach, develop, and hold fundraising staff accountable for performance goals.

  • Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in donor databases and CRM systems, preferably Raiser’s Edge NXT or a comparable fundraising platform.

  • Ability to analyze donor data, portfolio performance, and pipeline trends to forecast revenue and guide fundraising decisions.

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with fundraising, events, communications, program, and executive leadership teams.

  • Willingness and ability to attend donor meetings, site visits, cultivation activities, and occasional evening or weekend events.

  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive donor and financial information.


COMPENSATION

Pay Range: $80,000 - $105,000


Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. They range from entry to mid-level.
