Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a Volunteer Manager to expand our core volunteer programs and Campus Chapter efforts. You will recruit, train, and cultivate volunteers across construction, events, and offices, building a robust engagement pipeline.

Responsibilities include developing orientations, trainings, and stewardship plans, plus handling administrative tasks and coordinating major events throughout the year.

Qualifications

  • Must pass drug test, background check, and driving record check.
  • Must have reliable transportation, CA Driver’s License, and automobile liability insurance.
  • Must have reliable internet connection.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, program management, or community engagement.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, engage, and retain volunteers.
  • Experience developing volunteer orientations, trainings, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills and ability to build relationships.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is seeking a Volunteer Manager that will assist with expanding our core volunteers program and Campus Chapter Program. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Volunteer Engagement : Create strategies to recruit and cultivate skilled volunteers via email and phone to participate in core volunteer programs, focusing on ReStore, Events, Site Host and Office.

  • Program Development and Improvement: Develop strategies for Core Volunteer and Campus Chapter success through creating orientations, trainings, and establishing a retention + stewardship plans. Evaluate and research opportunities to improve department procedures.
  • Administrative: Create welcome packets and update group events on VolunteerHub for data tracking and stewardship. Responsible for writing monthly volunteer newsletter pieces.
  • Events: Help coordinate the Annual Volunteer Appreciation event and support other large events throughout the year (groundbreakings, build days, playhouse builds, holiday gift baskets, AmeriCorps, etc
SUMMARY OF JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, background check, and driving record check
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, a valid CA Driver’s License, and meet the state-required amount of personal automobile liability insuranc
  • Must have a reliable internet connection
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, program management, community engagement, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, engage, and retain volunteers.
  • Experience developing volunteer orientations, training materials, and stewardship or recognition initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills, with the ability to build relationships with volunteers, students, staff, and community partners.
  • Experience coordinating volunteer appreciation events, community events, or other large scale activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and volunteer or database-management systems; experience with VolunteerHub is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain accurate volunteer records, track participation, and use data to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments, including Construction, ReStore, Events, and administrative teams.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on volunteer programs and event schedules.

COMPENSATION

Pay Range: $26.44 - $31.25
Salary offers are based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, experience, and qualifications. Offers are between the entry to mid-level range.
