Job summary

CommonSail Investment Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance and repair duties across resident apartments and community facilities in Traverse City, Michigan. The role requires flexibility across shifts, including weekends and holidays, and outdoor work in varied weather.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on handyman experience, knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous maintenance experience preferred.
• Must possess handyman skills with plumbing, electrical and carpentry knowledge.
• Familiarity with common tools.
• Familiarity with common repair techniques.
• Must have good organizational skills and knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
• Must be able to perform general maintenance duties (plumbing, carpentry, furniture, electrical, appliances).

Responsibilities

• Provide daily maintenance in resident apartments and throughout the community.
• Responsible for assessing, assigning, and following up on daily work orders.
• Ensure completed work orders are filed properly and turned in to designated area.
• Analyze mechanical data regarding heat and water problems.
• Perform daily repairs to all common areas throughout the community.
• Assist the Director of Maintenance and/or work on pumps, motors, fans, and electrical systems.
• Provide preventative maintenance on tools, equipment and supplies.
• Participate in maintaining inventory and tool control.
• Keep maintenance work area neat and clean.
• Report missing tools and repair needs promptly.
• Report safety hazards to supervisor immediately.
• Respond to emergency or priority issues promptly.
