Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service manufacturing machinery and facilities at our site in Columbia, SC. You will perform repairs on automated controls, troubleshoot drive systems, and execute major electrical and mechanical tasks from schematics.

The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, collaboration with internal customers, and safety practices with LOTO compliance. A proactive, hands-on approach is essential for uptime and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with Industrial Machinery preferred.
• Three (3) plus years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical skills.
• Basic electrical skills.
• Comprehension of schematics/blueprints.
• Knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems desirable.
• Self-starter and motivated to maintain building/machines to 100% uptime via strong preventative activities.
• Willingness to change, flex and learn.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external associates, both written and orally, including the telephone.
• Mobility within the work facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of manufacturing machinery and facilities-related equipment.
• Repair of automated computerized machine controls and machinery.
• Major electrical, mechanical, and construction repairs and installations from schematics/blueprints.
• Troubleshoot drive-related issues to component level for various controllers.
• Determine root cause and document in work orders.
• Perform preventative maintenance autonomously.
• Communicate equipment status with internal customers.
• Advise supervisor on outside services and collaborate with service reps.
• Sketch mechanical/construction alterations and electrical circuitry.
• Prepare bills of material and initiate purchase requisitions.
• Operate material handling equipment as needed.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out per plant LOTO Plan.
