Job summary

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department (APR) is seeking a Temporary – General Maintenance Worker I to support park maintenance at the Central Maintenance Complex. You will assist crews with grounds work, operate hand and power tools, and help with irrigation fixtures and minor repairs.

Responsibilities include cleaning facilities, picking up litter, and helping the public with questions while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in grounds keeping or general labor.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to read floor plan sketches and diagrams.
• Capable of lifting up to 35 pounds and working outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Pick up litter and service restrooms; perform grounds maintenance.
• Operate tools and equipment to maintain park areas.
• Assist with irrigation and plumbing repairs as needed.
