Job summary

James Hardie is seeking a Maintenance Tech I for our Alabama plant. You will maintain production lines and equipment to keep operations running, and assist in developing work orders with supervision and line leads.

You will support 6S and TPM programs, train operators in preventative maintenance, and help with line commissioning after maintenance events. A strong mechanical/electrical background and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; additional certifications are a plus.
• Two-year Maintenance Certification is preferred.
• Related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production lines and equipment to keep operations running.
• Assist in developing and prioritizing work orders with supervision and leads.
• Complete work order requests as defined by maintenance management and operators.
• Support 6S and TPM programs to improve efficiency.
• Coach and train operators in daily preventative maintenance checks.
• Assist preventative maintenance processes on shift.
• Contribute to line commissioning after maintenance events.
• Participate in plant projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Ensures production lines and other equipment are maintained and able to run at all times
• Assists in developing and prioritizing work orders with Maintenance Manager, Production Supervision and Line Leads.
• Completes work order requests as defined by Maintenance Manager, Productions Management/Supervision, and/or Operators.
• Supports workplace organization programs (6S) and production efficiency programs (TPM).
• Assists, coaches, and trains operators in daily preventative maintenance (CIL) checks
• Supports and assists preventative maintenance process on the shift
• Contributes and assists in line commissioning after maintenance/process events
• Assists and participates with other plant projects as needed
• Operates in a manner that provides value to the team
• Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Advanced education and/or related-certification(s), a plus
Experience: 0 plus years of experience in role of Maintenance Tech I
Computer Skills: Computer skills to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
Certifications & Licenses: Will meet qualification and certification requirements established by TimberTech\"s Training
Resources and Knowledge (TRAK) program
Completion of two year Maintenance Certification course
Stick and wire welding experience required with structural welding certification, a plus
Forklift experience required with the ability to complete TT Forklift Certification program
Other Requirements: Proven experience in working unassisted with and troubleshooting: Electrical, Electronic, Motor Controller Drives, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems; Strong background in manufacturing systems in dynamic fast-paced manufacturing environment; Working knowledge of extrusion process, twin screw setup, blending system a plus; Knowledge of PLC Logic technology, a plus; Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings; Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally; Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities; Strong mathematical skills; Success in planning, executing and managing projects; Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate upward and downward to a wide range of audiences; Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
