Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Woodland, CA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Electrical Technician to install, repair and maintain electrical equipment across our plants. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting and strict adherence to safety standards.

You will read electrical diagrams, work with hydraulics and pneumatics, and support continuous improvement initiatives on shift from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with overtime potential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
• 1–3 years of related maintenance mechanic experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Preferred experience as an Electrical Controls Technician.
• Strong electrical safety, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers and motors.
• Read blueprints and electrical diagrams and work with welding as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure quality output.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment and perform repairs and history updates.
• Maintain good housekeeping and participate in continuous improvement.

Job Description

JOB DETAILS

Base pay rate is $28.50 - $32.90 per hour

Shift Hours: 5:00AM - 1:30PM, hours may vary depending on operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus
• Deals with complex factors and makes decisions based on conclusions and findings
• Installs and repairs various electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units and conduit systems. Works with blueprints, drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and other specifications
• Uses different welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting) for lay out and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures
• Uses electricians’ hand tools and measuring/testing equipment
• Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
• Performs visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery in good condition ensuring the production of finished quality products to order specifications
• Follows the preventive maintenance program established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventative action when necessary
• Performs minor and major repairs on buildings
• Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
• Provides on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and others assisting in maintenance work
• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area
• Ensure compliance of applicable Safety Standards and procedures
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment
• Execute equipment repair procedures
• Ensure good housekeeping in work areas
• Enter equipment repair history and close out work orders
• Update repair procedures if needed
• May be assigned additional projects or duties

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
• Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience in a maintenance mechanic function, or equivalent related experience
• Preferred experience as an Electrical Controls Technician in an industrial manufacturing facility
• Demonstrated commitment to electrical safety, strong troubleshooting skills, decision making skills, problem analysis and conflict management skills, particularly in pressure situations
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC and applicable OSHA standards
• Hydraulics Experience
• Pneumatics Experience
• Proficient in reading and understanding electrical diagrams and technical manuals
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
