Job summary

The State of Indiana is hiring a Maintenance Technician at Rockville Correctional Facility in Rockville, IN. You will support daily repairs and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds, on a Monday–Friday schedule with 7.5 hours per day.

A degree is not required. The role offers solid benefits, training, and potential advancement to supervisory positions, including pathways to a Physical Plant Director role.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Read blueprints and remediation plans.
• Know OSHA standards and MSDS procedures.
• Provide guidance and develop junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs across multiple trades.
• Estimate costs, hours, and materials for projects.
• Oversee work, ensure safety and quality standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles inventory.
• Train and supervise incarcerated team members as needed.
• Ensure compliance with protective and safety requirements.
• Respond to maintenance requests on site.
