Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Westville Correctional Facility to perform daily repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and grounds.

This Monday–Friday role runs 6:00 am–2:00 pm in a modernized facility with safety-first practices and training to help you advance from Technician to Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure operation of the department.
• Ability to read blueprints and remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
