Maintenance Labor - Maintenance Technician

Summary of Job

Perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance work on our converting, printing, and extruding equipment, and various other ancillary equipment, as well as general repairs to building and grounds. Emphasis on good analytical skills and ability to source other/outside resources to resolve issues, troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic and mechanical problems, repair and replace faulty components or parts, install new machines and equipment, perform preventive maintenance on equipment, and maintain parts and supplies inventories. This position will support the plant by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and modifying mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, including PLC, DCS, and multiple systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Emphasize safe work practices and familiarity with safety procedures.
• Demonstrate solid communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Apply good analytical skills and a sense of urgency to complete work efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic systems and control circuits.
• Resolve mechanical problems, repair and replace faulty components or parts, install new machines and equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and manage parts inventories.
• Perform reactionary maintenance when machines or equipment go down.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks related to equipment, building, and grounds.
• Plan and execute tasks and responsibilities for special projects on existing or new equipment or facilities.
• Manage assigned projects responsibly.
• Source products and materials, obtain pricing for maintenance purchases, and manage parts inventories.
• Perform tool & die and fixture jobs as needed.
• Complete miscellaneous duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
• Work effectively within a small team to solve collective problems and proactively collaborate across departments.
• Communicate well with team members and accept and offer training as needed.
• Perform tasks with limited supervision and guide fellow employees when necessary.
• Contribute to team efforts to achieve departmental results.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; prior experience in machine repair and maintenance preferred.
• Welding and fabricating skills.
• Experience with machining, lathes, and mills.
• Understanding of machine control systems and electrical schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
• Proficiency in writing routine reports and using office software and CMMS for work orders.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and understanding of rate, ratio, and percentage.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Endure elevated temperatures.

Position Details

• Full-time role.
• Shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
