Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Kansas City facility. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment, applying expertise in electrical controls, fluid power, welding, and fabrication.

You will disassemble and repair equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and install systems while following GMPs and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing.
• Vocational or technical diploma preferred; associate degree acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review maintenance needs and diagnose issues across electrical and mechanical systems in a food processing plant.
• Disassemble, repair, and test equipment; fabricate parts as needed using welding and sheet metal work.
• Install and maintain equipment, piping, and electrical controls per specs and safety regulations.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and GMPs to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests and provide fast, effective repair solutions.
