Job summary

wabashcareers in Lafayette, Indiana, is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support production by minimizing equipment downtime, completing planned maintenance, and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems on rotating machinery.

You will work with cross-functional teams, follow safety policies, and be prepared for 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts with mandatory overtime and weekends, depending on plant needs.

Qualifications

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Basic reading, writing, & verbal skills.
• Prior experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical (24DC, 120/277/480AC) systems. Methodical problem solving to identify root cause of breakdowns.
• Ability to work on projects both individually and cross functionally.
• Rapidly respond to changing situations while staying safety conscious.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to measure with tape measures, micrometers, and dial calipers.
• Experience using SAP and SAP PM is a plus.
• 1-3 years’ experience in related field.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of ladder logic preferred.
• Knowledge of 480-volt AC/DC motor controls preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support production by minimizing equipment downtime, providing prompt response times.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and planned production equipment repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Perform minor tasks on electrical components such as sensors, fuses, breakers, etc.
• Follow safety policies and practices while maintaining Wabash’s Leadership Principles and Values.
• Ability to work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team.
• The Maintenance Technician I position is expected to work full shifts, which may be 8, 10, or 12 hours per day, depending on the plant’s needs.
• Work schedule includes mandatory overtime and weekends.
• Assignments in the Duraplate division may require 12-hour shifts and coverage across all possible scheduling options.
• Perform other duties as needed or required.
