Job summary

Wabash is seeking a Maintenance Technician I in Lafayette, IN, to support production by minimizing downtime and performing maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. You will also assist with minor electrical tasks, follow safety policies, and work with cross-functional teams on shift-based hours.

The role requires basic technical skills, a willingness to learn, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills.
Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems (24DC, 120/277/480AC) and root-cause analysis.
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
Adaptable to changing, nonstandard situations while staying safety conscious.
Good mechanical aptitude; knowledge of tools; ability to measure with tape, micrometers, and dial calipers.
Experience with SAP and SAP PM is a plus.
1–3 years’ experience in a related field.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of ladder logic preferred.
Knowledge of 480-volt AC/DC motor controls preferred.

Responsibilities

Support production by minimizing equipment downtime, providing prompt response times.
Complete planned preventative maintenance and planned production equipment repairs.
Troubleshoot and repair issues with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Perform minor tasks on electrical components such as sensors, fuses, breakers, etc.
Follow safety policies and practices while maintaining Wabash’s Leadership Principles and Values.
The Maintenance Technician I position is expected to work 8 hours/day, including mandatory overtime and weekends.
Ability to work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team.
Hours for this position vary based on the shift assigned.
Perform other duties as needed or required.
