Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team in Kentucky. You will repair, maintain, install and troubleshoot industrial equipment, systems and components, following manuals and engineering specifications.

This role includes on-the-job training, a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional night and weekend overtime, and opportunities for growth within a large garment services company. You will perform safety checks, log results, and use a CMMS to track maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience repairing industrial equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and maintenance literature in English.
• Basic computer and MS Office skills.
• Overtime availability as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals and engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision measuring devices.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing and adjust chemicals as required.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and perform repairs.
• Record and analyze utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform daily/weekly location/system safety checks.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, replace filters and lubricate components.
• Inspect and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
