Job summary

UniFirst Corporation is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I in Indianapolis, IN to repair, maintain, install, and troubleshoot industrial equipment. The role features a Monday–Friday base schedule with periodic night and weekend overtime and on-the-job training.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, 6 months+ maintenance experience, ability to read blueprints, and a willingness to work overtime. The team emphasizes safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license with safe driving record.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum 6 months repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Must pass maintenance knowledge assessment.
• Able to read blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer and MS Office skills.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Overtime flexibility.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment using precision testing instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment testing and adjust as needed.
• Perform daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and address repairs.
• Record and analyze utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform daily/weekly safety checks of locations/systems.
