Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. As a Team Partner in Maintenance, you will repair, maintain, install and troubleshoot industrial equipment, systems and components.

The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional night and weekend overtime and on-the-job training. You will work with hand and power tools, read blueprints, and ensure safe operation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Two-year technical degree in a related field is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision measuring and testing devices.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pretreatment testing and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Perform daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and perform repairs as required.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform routine location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, and replace filters as needed.
• Inspect, clean, and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
