Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Supervisor to ensure facility equipment runs efficiently and to identify process improvements. You will supervise maintenance staff, oversee preventive maintenance, read blueprints, and manage safety programs.

The role follows a standard Monday–Friday schedule with occasional night and weekend overtime. On‑the‑job training is provided, and growth opportunities exist within a large garment services company.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel.
  • Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills is required.
  • Lockout / Tagout experience is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective action by checking blueprints, schematics, repair manuals and parts catalogs.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Perform basic welding to repair facilities and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs and related control systems.
  • Perform and assign all preventive maintenance on facility and production assets.
  • Follow blueprints and specifications using a documented schedule.
  • Monitor and test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment systems, recording results and adjusting as needed.
  • Manage and assign all equipment maintenance and oversee off-hours repairs.
  • Oversee maintenance-related regulatory and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Ensure safety within the maintenance department and perform Confined Space and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Monitor training, provide time for required training as needed.
  • Utilize CMMS and coordinate with Production Manager on budgets and parts/labor.
  • Train and develop maintenance staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
