Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Maintenance Team Lead to manage technicians and maintenance projects within a Meijer facility. You will provide technical guidance across mechanical and material handling systems while ensuring continuous operations.

Requirements include leadership experience, blueprints reading ability, and strong communication. Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration is a plus, and eligibility to operate lifts and safety-compliant processes is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• 1–3 years of leadership experience required; 3–5 years preferred.
• Operate powered lift equipment and maintain equipment operator license.
• Able to read blueprints, shop drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems beneficial.
• Proficient with office tech like timekeeping and internal systems.
• Knowledge of industrial motors and motor controls.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to prioritize, meet production goals and work rotating shifts.
• Familiar with safety, sanitation and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with hiring the site maintenance team to ensure continuous operations.
• Make work assignments, promote teamwork and accountability for results.
• Coach team members and administer discipline as required.
• Monitor and oversee maintenance activities to ensure continuous operations.
• Record and deliver coaching and disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Collaborate to improve plant KPIs and operational metrics.
• Maintain refrigeration systems, including Freon and ammonia handling.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements; maintain documentation.
• Forecast, manage and assist with departmental budget.
