Job summary

Meijer is seeking a maintenance team lead to manage technicians and ensure continuous facility operations. You’ll provide technical guidance across building, mechanical, and material handling systems.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, and collaboration to meet KPIs, with a focus on refrigeration systems and regulatory compliance. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, and flexibility for a rotating schedule is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
• 1–3 years of leadership experience required; 3–5 years preferred.
• Operate powered lift equipment and maintain equipment operator license.
• Read/sketch blueprints, shop drawings and electrical schematics.
• Ammonia refrigeration experience beneficial.
• Learn/use office tech tools (Outlook, MIDS, PLEX, mainframe).
• Knowledge of industrial motors and motor controls.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, follow through and meet production goals.
• Flexibility to work a rotating schedule.
• Knowledge of Safety, Sanitation and regulatory requirements.
• Read/interpret and communicate safety rules and instructions to the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with hiring the site maintenance team to ensure continuous operations.
• Assign work, promote teamwork and accountability for results.
• Coach team members and administer disciplinary actions when required.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure continuous operations.
• Record coaching and disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Collaborate to improve plant KPIs and operational metrics.
• Maintain refrigeration systems, including ammonia handling where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal requirements and documentation.
• Assist with budgeting and departmental cost management.
