Job summary

Meijer is seeking a maintenance team lead to supervise technicians/maintenance specialists and guide equipment and projects to support ongoing operations. You will provide technical guidance across building, mechanical and material handling systems.

The role emphasizes safety accountability, team leadership, and budget awareness, with opportunities for advancement and development within a family-oriented company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• 1-3 years leadership experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
• Operate powered lift equipment and hold an equipment operator license.
• Read sketches, blueprints, shop drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems beneficial.
• Learn/use office technology tools (Outlook, MIDS, PLEX, mainframe).
• Knowledge of industrial motors and motor controls.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, follow-through and meet production goals.
• Flexibility to work a rotating schedule.
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with hiring the site maintenance team to ensure continuous operations.
• Make work assignments, promote positive employee relations and accountability for results.
• Coach team members and administer discipline as required.
• Monitor and oversee activities including maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to ensure operations.
• Record and deliver coaching and disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Improve plant KPIs and operational metrics with the team.
• Maintain commercial refrigeration systems (Freon and/or ammonia).
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation and regulatory requirements and document accordingly.
• Forecast, create and assist with departmental budget and accounting.
