Job summary

UniFirst seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure uptime of facility equipment. You will oversee preventive maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with production leadership.

The role requires 3+ years of repair experience, 2+ years in supervision, and a technical degree. Strong knowledge of PLCs, blueprints, and CMMS is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment.
• Minimum 3 years repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.
• Experience reading blueprints and schematics.
• Military experience will be considered.
• Minimum 2 years supervising maintenance personnel preferred.
• Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, vendor and parts management.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective action.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
• Perform basic welding to repair facilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs and related control systems.
• Perform and assign preventive maintenance on facilities and production assets.
• Follow blueprints and manuals with a documented schedule.
• Test boiler chemicals and wastewater pre-treatment; log results and adjust as needed.
• Manage and assign all equipment maintenance and after-hours repairs.
• Oversee all shifts in the maintenance department.
• Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance in maintenance activities.
• Maintain safety within the maintenance department and perform LO/TO procedures.
• Monitor technician training and allocate time for required training.
• Use Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Collaborate with Production Manager on budget for building, equipment, and parts/labor.
• Train and develop maintenance staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
