Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to ensure facility equipment operates efficiently and to identify process improvements. The role covers supervising maintenance staff, planning preventive maintenance, and managing budgets with the Production Manager.

It requires strong mechanical/electrical knowledge, blueprint reading, and PLC experience. The position involves overseeing shifts, ensuring safety, and complying with environmental and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school or GED preferred.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment.
• Knowledge of maintenance equipment incl. wiring, electrical, mechanical, plumbing.
• Minimum 3 years repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Military experience considered.
• Minimum 2 years supervising maintenance personnel preferred.
• Maintenance administration incl. planning, scheduling, budgeting, vendor management is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read maintenance literature in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with hand & power tools.
• Lockout/Tagout experience.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine corrective actions.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions.
• Perform basic welding to repair facilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and control systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on facilities and production assets.
• Follow blueprints and manuals per schedule.
• Conduct boiler chemical and wastewater testing and adjust as needed.
• Manage and assign all equipment maintenance and shifts.
• Ensure maintenance compliance and safety across the department.
• Train and develop maintenance staff.
