In this capacity, you will direct maintenance workflows during your shift, manage daily task distribution, support production goals, and guarantee that all technical work is performed with a focus on safety, precision, and operational efficiency.

Your Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will manage the daily functions of the maintenance department and provide mentorship to the technicians on your shift.
- Direct and organize daily maintenance tasks, including preventive upkeep, troubleshooting, breakdown repairs, and other technical assignments.
- Manage the daily and weekly maintenance schedule by assigning specific tasks to your team members.
- Ensure that all maintenance personnel have clear objectives and that their locations and task statuses are tracked throughout the shift.
- Assess overtime requirements and organize staffing levels to maintain adequate maintenance coverage.
- Facilitate communication between operations, management, and other shifts regarding equipment status, completed tasks, and pending work.
- Generate daily reports and provide comprehensive end‑of‑shift briefings on maintenance activities and machine status.
- Track equipment downtime and ensure thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation is completed for major incidents.
- Coordinate the handover of ongoing RCA investigations between shifts for extended downtime events.
- Verify that all work orders and preventive maintenance tasks are completed accurately and returned by the end of each shift.
- Inspect finished maintenance work to confirm that repairs were performed correctly and the workspace is tidy.
- Oversee the completion of weekend maintenance tasks and update maintenance work boards.
- Identify ways to enhance equipment reliability, streamline maintenance processes, improve safety, and boost overall plant performance.
- Respond to major equipment failures and provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team during critical repairs.
- Document safety, environmental, quality, attendance, and performance issues and report them to the appropriate management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work environment.
- Maintain familiarity with the maintenance storeroom, including parts locations, inventory, and equipment throughout the storeroom.
- Conduct regular storeroom walkthroughs to ensure familiarity with available maintenance parts and supplies.
- Work collaboratively with operations, management, and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with the union and follow applicable terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related technical field preferred/required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, equipment, and machinery.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience leading, directing, and coordinating maintenance personnel.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and maintenance‑related safety practices.
- Experience working in a foundry or similarly heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with maintenance, production, operations, and management teams.
- Ability to analyze equipment problems and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to accurately document maintenance activities, downtime, and completed work.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary, including during major equipment breakdowns or scheduled shutdowns.
- Supervisors are expected to report approximately 30 minutes before the maintenance team to review assignments and communicate with the outgoing shift.
- Ensure maintenance employees are assigned work and actively working on their designated tasks shortly after the start of the shift.
- Coordinate staffing and overtime needs to maintain appropriate maintenance coverage.
- Communicate effectively with the incoming and outgoing maintenance supervisors to ensure a smooth shift transition.
- Supervisor overtime must generally be approved by the appropriate management team, with exceptions for required start/end‑of‑shift responsibilities and major breakdown situations.
