Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Maintenance Specialist II to join the Plant Maintenance team at San Antonio State Hospital. The role involves routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility upgrades across hospital buildings and residential spaces.

Under supervision, you’ll work in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical tasks, maintain equipment, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, welding, or electronic cabling.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, adjustments, maintenance and repair work on building systems per codes and standards.
• Operate hand and power tools to repair/renovate buildings and systems.
• Maintain records of work orders, materials, and projects.
• Assist with and/or perform preventive maintenance and basic installations.
• Communicate clearly with team members and document activities.
