Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Maintenance Specialist III to perform journey-level maintenance across building systems at Kerrville State Hospital. You will inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and related systems, using hand tools and powered equipment.

The role requires teamwork and adherence to safety standards. Typical duties include maintaining records, ordering parts, and possibly operating heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Vocational training in one or more trades (electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, carpentry, HVAC, etc.).
• Minimum two years of experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair across at least one trade and six months in two other trades.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance and repairs on building systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting).
• Operate tools and equipment; maintain records and work orders.
• Provide training/guidance to others; work safely and with initiative.
• Support disaster response or COOP activities and alternate shift patterns as needed.
