Job description

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Shift Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance organization and process. This position works closely with other Maintenance Teams and Production personnel to ensure plant equipment performs optimally. The Maintenance Supervisor will define additional duties and responsibilities.

*This is a night shift position.*

Nature and Scope of Position:

• Ensure all plant equipment is maintained and reliable, functioning properly to meet departmental needs.
• Handle reactive maintenance requirements across departments.
• Identify equipment reliability issues routinely and support corrective action plans.
• Develop critical spares lists and recommended stocking levels for equipment.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Leadership to integrate preventive and predictive maintenance into the computerized maintenance management system.
• Participate in skills training and improvement plans.
• Support departmental process improvement initiatives.
• Engage actively in safety and housekeeping programs.
• Adjust work schedules based on equipment availability, craft training, and resources.
• Conduct daily forklift safety inspections and complete checklists.
• Maintain good housekeeping to ensure a safe, hazard-free work environment.
• Have basic computer literacy to input production data daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications:

The Maintenance Shift Technician should possess:

• Mechanical or electrical knowledge.
• Understanding of plant equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Engagement in World Class Manufacturing processes and improvements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

Education and/or Experience: At least 5 years of related industrial maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and operate electronic calculators.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow detailed instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: Must meet physical requirements to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodations as needed. Regularly sit, stand, work in awkward positions, communicate, and handle or feel objects. Frequently lift/move up to 75 lbs. Must have vision abilities including distance, color, and peripheral vision.
