Job summary

Breaking Ground in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Porter in our Maintenance department to perform cleaning, floor care, and basic repairs across residential buildings. The role supports the daily operation of a 35-hour work week and ensures units are ready for occupancy.

Responsibilities include floor care, janitorial tasks, and assisting the Maintenance Supervisor, with a focus on safe, clean, and well-maintained common areas for residents, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum working experience as a maintenance/porter
• Experience operating vacuum cleaners and high speed buffers
• High School Diploma, Trade School or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Maintain sidewalks, rake leaves, shovel snow
• Sweep, mop, wash, dust, and vacuum
• Seal, wax, and buff floors and hard surfaces
• Clean vacated units for occupancy
• Sort recyclables and waste per NYC regulations
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor as needed
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and routine upkeep
• Perform other related duties as assigned
