Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning maintenance and small capital projects. They manage the NBU Cityworks maintenance and capital data integrity, program design, job planning, and training for the computerized maintenance management and Planning & Scheduling Systems. The Maintenance Planner develops and maintains Asset Management (AM) database programs, related planning & scheduling, and reporting to meet department requirements. They track job costs using the work order system and ensure data integrity for AM work records. They monitor schedule compliance and identify reasons for shortfalls, recommending improvements based on asset management best practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning

• Manage divisional Cityworks CMMS, mCare, and GIS workflow framework and system database improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to manage infrastructure assets and support reliability and resiliency practices.
• Enhance CMMS application development and system framework aligned with AM best practices.
• Develop and monitor reports to evaluate data, work requirements, and maintenance program effectiveness.
• Coordinate and communicate for reliability and resiliency efforts.
• Manage asset attribute data for GIS, including GPS locations and asset registry maintenance.
• Facilitate job planning for proactive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Monitor work activities and ensure job backlog integrity.
• Prepare jobs for scheduling meetings and coordinate work activities among stakeholders.
• Follow Maintenance Management Plans and monitor progress, recommending improvements.
• Promote Asset Management practices and cultural development.
• Train division end users on CMMS, mCare, GIS, and related systems and processes.
• Analyze data and develop recommendations for process improvements.
• Create reports and analyze data to support asset management decisions.
• Suggest process improvements aligned with strategic initiatives.
• Evaluate procedures and recommend changes for efficient planning and scheduling.
• Propose organizational structure revisions to enhance AM services.
• Implement solutions to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Assist in developing performance metrics and KPIs.
• Assess impacts of proposed changes and develop cost/benefit analyses.
• Research external best practices for planning & scheduling.
• Monitor KPIs to measure program effectiveness.
• Ensure data integrity for GIS and infrastructure asset data.
• Manage requests related to electric infrastructure within the Enterprise Asset Management Program.

Field Operations

• Assess emergency electric failures and assist in strategic communication.
• Support field staff with CMMS issues and solutions.
• Coordinate material inventory with storerooms and vendors.
• Coordinate with Fleet and Facilities for equipment availability.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and codes.
• Report corrective actions to management.

Formal Education and Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (minimum three years in related field).

Certification and Licensure Requirements
