Job description

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager

PURPOSE: To maintain all production equipment, building, and surrounding area.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery. Program PLCs. Complete daily maintenance and repair logs. Communicate with operators and management. Maintain and secure work tools. Clean and maintain work area. Order tools and machinery inventory parts. Start up/shut down plant machinery each day. Perform safe operation of the boiler and all boiler room equipment. Perform water and boiler tests. Respond to maintenance calls in a timely manner. Inspect, diagnose, repair, and test machinery. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, and gears on machinery. Clear machine jams. Wax machine blades. Clear lint from the machines. Check machines for air, water, and oil leaks. Change chemical drums and AC filters. Monitor pH system. Log parts used for reordering. Customize equipment for laundry processes to improve efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and malfunctions. Maintain and repair trucks, as needed. Work with vendors to repair or install new equipment. Collaborate with the safety department to identify safety hazards and find resolutions. Perform lockout/tagout and other safety procedures. Maintain the chemical room.

Essential Functions

  1. Be on time

  3. Meet established productivity standards
  4. Utilize CMMS system to log all work and perform preventative maintenance
  5. Possess working knowledge, education, or experience in electrical and two or more of the following: Mechanical systems, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, Welding, Piping Systems
  6. Understand computer-based programming (PLC)
  7. Work independently or assist team members in troubleshooting and repairs
  8. Operate scissors lift, boom lift, and forklift safely
  9. Follow all safety rules
  10. Work well with a diverse workforce
  11. Follow directions from team lead or supervisor
  12. Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  13. Maintain a positive attitude
  14. Keep work area and premises safe, clean, and organized
  15. Work beyond scheduled hours as needed, including weekends, evenings, or emergency call-ins
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work in all maintenance areas, including janitorial tasks

Job Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • Stand for up to 12 hours
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial mechanic experience
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to work on equipment
  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs
  • Meet physical requirements such as bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling
