SMS Staffing Inc is Hiring Immediately for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic!
Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Location: North Chicago, IL 60064
Job Type: Contract (possible extension or convert to hire)
Pay: $30.21/hr.
Shift Structure: ONSITE, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
The Role of the Maintenance Mechanic:
- Manage daily assigned routine preventative maintenance tasks on equipment/facilities, determine repairs needed or to prevent unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency rules and regulations.
- Respond to alarm or trouble calls as required and maintain a strong floor presence.
- Functions as a member of ATM Maintenance Team and assist as necessary to accomplish production goals and throughput initiatives.
- Address production stop situations and troubleshoot causes of malfunction in equipment and participate in implementing corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Maintain good knowledge of equipment in the production area (including setup and operation).
- Attend applicable training to maintain consistent service to production equipment/areas of focus.
- Escort and assist outside repair persons in the performance of their duties in production areas.
- Maintain appropriate records of work, keep inventory of spare parts and materials, and provide Supervisor with needed information related to parts or special materials needed for repairs.
About the Maintenance Mechanic:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic or similar role in an industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with a solid understanding of equipment operations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime, weekends, or extended hours based on business needs.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to prioritize workplace safety.
- Must be flexible to meet business needs and work occasional overtime, weekend or extended hours.
