Job summary

Transdev is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee day-to-day maintenance of heavy‑duty transit equipment in Sonora, CA. The role includes managing mechanics, helpers, and administrative staff across a three-shift operation to ensure safe, reliable vehicle performance.

The position requires 7+ years in heavy‑duty repair/maintenance with at least 3 years in supervision, and a CDL Class B with endorsements is preferred. Salary ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 plus standard benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • CDL Class B license with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
  • 7+ years' experience in repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty equipment.
  • 3+ years' supervisory experience.
  • Broad understanding of mechanical systems in heavy‑duty transportation.
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations for safe maintenance facilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules.
  • DOT drug testing and physical per 49 CFR Part 40.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train and schedule Maintenance Technicians.
  • Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on materials and operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee work by outside vendors.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Implement safety policies and procedures for the department.
  • Develop and administer the operational budget.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Travel outside immediate area: 10%.
  • Other duties as required.

Maintenance Manager

NOTE: The following position is for a proposed new/future business within Transdev. Only candidates meeting the work experience requirements will be considered.

The Maintenance Manager oversees the day-to-day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers and administrative staff members. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three-shift basis to ensure that maintenance on equipment is completed; tests and inspections of products, services and processes to evaluate quality or performance of that equipment are accomplished; and specifications are met to DOT, client or company standards. This position is based in Sonora, CA.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred
  • 7 years+ experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment
  • 3 years+ of supervisory experience
  • Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles
  • Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
