Job summary

Transdev North America in Sonora, CA seeks a Maintenance Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of mechanics, bus washers, and administrative staff, ensuring safety and efficiency across a multi-shift facility.

Key duties include hiring and scheduling maintenance team, prioritizing repairs, coordinating with outside vendors, managing inventory, administering safety programs, and contributing to the operating budget.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class B license preferred with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
• 7+ years in repair and maintenance of heavy-duty transit equipment.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of heavy-duty mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Willing to work shifts or flexible schedules.
• Subject to DOT drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train and schedule Maintenance Technicians.
• Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on parts and operations.
• Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors.
• Ensure equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
• Manage inventory.
• Implement safety policies and procedures per corporate requirements.
• Participate in the development and administration of the operating budget.
• Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
• Other duties as required.

Job description

NOTE: The following position is for a proposed new/future business within Transdev. Only candidates meeting the work experience requirements will be considered.The Maintenance Manager oversees the day-to-day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers and administrative staff members. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three-shift basis to ensure that maintenance on equipment is completed; tests and inspections of products, services and processes to evaluate quality or performance of that equipment are accomplished; and specifications are met to DOT, client or company standards. This position is based in Sonora, CA.

Travel requirement outside of immediate area:

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred
• 7 years+ experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of heavy-duty automotive and transit equipment
• 3 years+ of supervisory experience
• Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles
• Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
