Job summary

Transdev North America is hiring an Assistance Maintenance Manager in Arcadia, CA to oversee maintenance techs, coordinate vendors, and manage safety and budget for the fleet. The role covers day‑to‑day supervision of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers, and admin staff, with shifts and travel as needed.

The position requires strong mechanical knowledge, 7+ years in heavy‑duty maintenance, and 3+ years of supervisory experience, plus DOT and payroll process familiarity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty automotive and transit equipment.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Broad understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy‑duty transportation vehicles.
  • Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with safe operation of maintenance facilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Available to work shifts and flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train and schedule Maintenance Technicians.
  • Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors.
  • Ensure company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
  • Assist with physical inventory.
  • Implement safety policies and procedures for the department per corporate requirements.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
  • Monitor daily fuel uploads and PMI schedules.
  • Must be familiar with invoice coding and processing.
  • Must be familiar with Payroll process.
  • Monitor attendance.
  • Issue discipline.
  • Conduct tailgates, monthly safety meetings.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Travel requirement outside of immediate area (5%).

Assistance Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager oversees the day-to-day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers and administrative staff members. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three-shift basis to ensure that maintenance on equipment is completed; tests and inspections of products, services and process to evaluate quality or performance of that equipment is accomplished; and specifications are met to DOT, client or company standards. This position is based in Arcadia, CA. supporting the Foothill Arcadia Contract.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $92,000 – maximum $114,000
