Job Summary
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for coordinating and controlling all technical work and preventative maintenance of the facilities. Responsibilities include minimizing equipment breakdowns, supervising maintenance staff, overseeing repairs, upkeep, design, cost control, and preventative maintenance of all plant equipment and facilities. Candidates should have at least 10 years of maintenance experience, including 3-5 years in maintenance management, ideally in fabrication, welding, and assembly operations. The role requires initiative, strong organizational skills, and effective communication at all levels.
Essential Functions
- Manage maintenance staff, supervise, organize, and control workflow, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and preventive maintenance; establish an organized work order system.
- Coordinate work schedules to align with production priorities, improving equipment uptime, product quality, and plant efficiency.
- Implement and manage a preventative maintenance program for the entire facility.
- Recommend improvements for equipment and processes.
- Manage continuous improvement projects related to equipment.
- Develop skills of maintenance employees and conduct evaluations.
- Procure spare parts, equipment, tools, and fixtures, aiming to reduce costs.
- Create and oversee the spare parts inventory program.
- Manage external contractors as needed.
- Be willing to perform hands-on tasks to meet goals and commitments.
- Perform additional duties and cross-train as required.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma with 10 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, including 3-5 years supervisory experience. An AA Degree or equivalent in Industrial Technology or a related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of welding equipment, punch presses, brakes, shears, fabrication, and paint equipment.
- Familiarity with TPM, 5S, and lean production methods.
- Ability to operate forklift and material handling equipment.
- Understanding of handling and shipment of hazardous waste per government regulations; training provided.
- Basic welding skills and a clean driving record.
- General knowledge of industrial maintenance with good mechanical and construction aptitude.
Physical Demands
- Must be physically fit to perform tasks including tool use, movement, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, working in awkward positions, climbing, and working at heights.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
