Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation, a leading producer of premium specialty alloys, seeks a Maintenance Intern to work hands-on with the maintenance team. You will assist with troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, and upkeep of plant assets in a lean manufacturing setting.

The program includes on-the-job training, safety procedures, and collaboration with production and engineering on continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at an accredited university/college/trade school pursuing at least a two-year technical degree in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent area.
• Required cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
• Ability to work minimum 20 hours starting Summer 2027 with part-time during the school year and full-time in summer (up to 1,000 hours/12 months).

Responsibilities

• Provide support for maintenance, engineering, and production, including troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of plant assets in a lean environment.
• Safely perform assigned tasks and maintain a safe, clean working environment.
• Learn to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical/electrical devices and using measuring instruments; assist in disassembling machinery and replacing parts.
• Support plant downtime reduction through routine preventative maintenance and inspections.
