Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Intern to work hands-on with the maintenance team, assisting maintenance, engineering and production in a lean manufacturing setting. You will learn machining and rebuilding of components, use precision measuring tools, and study drawings and diagrams as part of the industrial maintenance program.

The internship requires enrollment in a two-year technical program with a 2.75 GPA, offering On-the-Job Training and a pathway to practical,

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at an accredited university/college/trade school pursuing at least a two-year technical degree in machining or equivalent area and have completed the first year of core technical courses.
• Required GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
• Ability to work minimum 20 hours beginning Summer 2027.
• Part-time during the school semester or full-time up to 40 hours/week during the summer (up to 1,000 hours per year).
• Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for maintenance, engineering, and production.
• Support focus on safe, reliable, and cost-effective production in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Participate in On-the-Job Training (OJT) with designated team members.
• Safely perform assigned tasks competently and efficiently.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Onboard as a maintenance trainee intern and work with the maintenance team and supervisors.
• Learn to use precision measuring instruments, drawings, and diagrams.
• Learn to machine and rebuild mechanical components.
• Perform duties as needed to support the plant.
