Job summary

City of Mesquite is seeking a general laborer to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks using a variety of equipment under the supervision of a Street Supervisor. The role involves operating trucks, backhoes, rollers, loaders, pavers, and related machinery while inspecting fluids and reporting daily work.

The position requires at least six months of general labor experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Requires six (6) months prior working experience in general labor.
• Must pass: An equipment operation test for skid-steer loaders.
• Valid driver's license required; Texas Class A or obtain within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, rollers, loaders, pavers and other similar machinery under supervision.
• Inspect and restore equipment fluid levels; verify gauges and tires; lubricate as needed; service and adjust as necessary.
• Build, paint, repair and maintain City property including barricades, fences, bridges, rails and handrails.
• Collect and complete daily schedules; report all daily work to supervisor.
• Maintain and repair concrete and asphalt materials including streets, alleys and utility piping; pour and finish concrete and asphalt.
• Utilize a variety of manual tools to complete work projects.
