Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking an Equipment Operator I for Street Maintenance. The role involves safe operation of trucks and powered equipment, with some manual labor, to maintain and construct streets and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities include hauling materials, operating a jackhammer, and assisting with snow and ice removal in winter. Careful attention to safety and teamwork with other laborers is essential.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in the operation of motor vehicles.
• A valid Driver's License.
• Ability to acquire a valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement within 120 days of employment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Operates a truck and assists in loading and unloading materials.
• Operates a jackhammer and air compressor.
• Hauls sand, stones, cement, pipes, water, brick, and other materials.
• Digs ditches and excavations, mows lawns; mixes concrete; collects litter or performs other laboring work as assigned.
• Assists in snow removal operations.
• Performs minor servicing on equipment (refueling, lubricating, washing, and minor adjustments).
• May function as backup operator or assistant to an Equipment Operator II.
