Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking an Equipment Operator II (Code Compliance-Civil Service) to operate light to moderately complex construction equipment used in maintaining city facilities and utilities. You will drive, excavate, load materials, and perform basic repairs while following safety protocols.

Qualifications include 4 years of equipment operation experience, a Texas CDL with a good driving record, and the ability to obtain a Texas CDL A/B within 90 days if needed.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience operating light to medium equipment such as backhoe, roto boom, front-end loaders, etc., in excavation, construction, utility, landfill or street sweeping operations.
• Texas Driver's License with good driving record and valid CDL; CDL Class B or higher may substitute for certain departments.
• Applicant must obtain Texas CDL Class A or B within 90 days if holding out-of-state CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate, drive, and safely use light to moderately complex equipment for City of Dallas maintenance and utilities.
• Drive trucks and trailers to transport equipment to job sites, following safety standards.
• Load, transport, and unload materials from stockpiles to supply projects.
• Perform regular equipment inspections and light mechanical repairs to keep machinery in working order.
• Clean work sites and related storage areas to maintain appearance and safety.
• Complete daily activity reports to aid resource allocation and supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
