Job summary

City of Rowlett is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work on the City's water, wastewater, streets and drainage systems. You may supervise in the Crew Leader’s absence and must operate heavy equipment and read grade.

A valid driver’s license is required. Graduation from High School or GED and three years of related experience is required; one year in equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED and three years of proven experience relating to construction, maintenance and repair of streets and drainage.
• One year of the three years of experience related to equipment operation.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement is preferred or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment for construction, maintenance and repair of streets, water, wastewater and drainage systems.
• Assist Crew Leader in planning, scheduling and implementing maintenance activities.
• Perform pavement repair, ditch digging, line cleaning, and backfilling; shoot and read grade.
• Ensure safety and compliance with MUTCD and standard procedures; inspect and maintain equipment.
• Lead workers in the absence of the Crew Leader.
