Description of Work
Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is accepting applications for a Maintenance/Construction Technician II.

The duties for this position include the repair and construction of components necessary to keep the facility and surrounding property in proper working condition for the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents and staff. Included in the scope of work are a 224,000 square foot main structure, nine 1,500 square foot cottages, 1,080 interior doors, and 20 +/- acres of grounds.
Flexibility is required for training/education purposes and to meet the needs of the facility.
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED MANDATORY AND MUST REPORT OR STAY OVER DURING ADVERSE WEATHER EVENTS AND/OR OTHER EMERGENCIES.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
- Maintenance and renovations, including cabinet making, carpentry work, masonry work, drywall installation, building decks and partitions, flooring such as VCT and ceramic tile, roofing, hanging doors and windows, building picture frames, etc.
- Construction of cabinets, furniture, and other items.
- General maintenance duties, as assigned.

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies
The successful candidate will return to the Work Experience section and thoroughly document, in detail, that they possess the following:
- Demonstrated experience in general maintenance and repair work.
- Demonstrated experience in construction and related activities.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
The successful candidate will return to both the Education section of the application AND the Work Experience section of the application and thoroughly document, in detail, that they possess the following:
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification: May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
