Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island seeks a Surgical Technologist for the Main Operating Room, Nights. You will scrub on all procedures under an RN, assisting physicians with instrumentation and maintaining sterile technique.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS (American Heart Association) required.
• Graduate of NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room under the direction of a licensed nurse.
• Assist the physician in procedural areas as required.
• Anticipate and gather needed supplies based on the procedure preference card; escalate shortages with the RN Circulator.
• Demonstrate knowledge of use, care and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
• Under supervision of the circulating RN, assist as secondary circulator.
• Report unexpected events to RN staff/leadership in a timely fashion; participate in time-out and safety checks.
