Job summary

The City of Kirkland is seeking a dependable Mail Processing Clerk to manage mail operations for multiple departments. You will sort inbound mail, assist with UPS and USPS shipments, and provide courier services for official documents and Council materials.

Responsibilities include maintaining postage accounts, ordering supplies, delivering to city locations, and helping prepare the mail center budget. A valid Washington driver’s license and basic computer skills are required; prior mail

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret addresses sufficiently to accurately sort and distribute materials.
  • Must maintain records of postage accounts.
  • Strong communication with City staff and the public.
  • Basic computer literacy; Word, Excel, e-mail and Internet preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work with a variety of people.

Responsibilities

  • Major contact for all mail related questions and interpreting USPS regulations.
  • Retrieve, sort and distribute all incoming mail and assist with shipments and special handling USPS packages.
  • Provide courier services for documents, Council materials and other items as assigned by supervisor.
  • Distribute freight shipments and newspapers.
  • Maintain and balance records of postage accounts and prepare statistical reports.
  • Maintain mailroom supplies and purchase quantities; manage mail center budget.
