Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Mechanical aptitude with experience or formal training in machinist trade
• Ability to operate machine shop equipment (lathes, shapers, grinders, etc.)
• Ability to read and record measurements with tools like micrometers and calipers
• Ability to interpret blueprints and sketches
• Physical fitness, attendance, safety performance, and aptitude tests

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed courses in machinist trade
• Experience as a machinist or trade school graduate
• Knowledge of power plant mechanical work

Primary Duties

• Rebuild, repair, and fabricate units and components for mechanical and electrical equipment
• Create and fit parts using blueprints, sketches, and measurements
• Operate stationary and portable machine tools
• Apply shop mathematics and use reference materials
• Perform general mechanical maintenance and related work
