Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience or formal training in machinist trade
• Ability to operate machine shop equipment (lathes, shapers, grinders, presses, etc.)
• Ability to read and record precise measurements with tools like micrometers and calipers
• Ability to check and align rotating equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and sketches
• Physical fitness, attendance, punctuality, safety performance, and aptitude test compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed machinist trade courses
• Experienced machinist or trade school graduate
• Knowledge of power plant mechanical work
• Additional relevant skills or experience

Primary Duties

Repair, rebuild, layout, and manufacture units and components for mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring safe, continuous, and efficient operation.

Tasks Include

1. Creating non-standard units and parts, aligning, disassembling, assembling, and fitting to close tolerances using blueprints, sketches, and measurements.
2. Operating stationary and portable machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and saws.
3. Applying shop mathematics, using reference materials, and making dies and fixtures.
4. Performing general mechanical maintenance and related work as assigned.
